The majority of respondents believe that the Armenian Apostolic Church enjoys the most public trust, and therefore can play an important role in maintaining and restoring social solidarity. Aram Navasardyan, head of the Armenian office of Gallup International, stated this, as he presented the results of their latest survey.

Respondents were asked: “How much do you trust the following institutions as sources of social solidarity?”

The results were as follows:

— Armenian Apostolic Church: 55.8% fully trust, 15.8% partially trust.

— Armenia’s education system: 27.4% fully trust, 28.5% partially trust.

— Armenian government. 17.8% fully trust, 20.8% partially trust.

— Political issues: 12.3% fully trust, 20.8% partially trust.

— Media: 8.2% fully trust, 23.7% partially trust.

To the next question: “Which institution should play the primary role in restoring social solidarity?” the respondents’ opinions were distributed as follows:

— Armenian Apostolic Church: 28.4%;

— Armenian government: 20.7%;

— Armenian civil society: 23%;

— Independent Armenian state bodies: 5%;

— International organizations: 4%;

— All of the above: 35.7%.
