US President Donald Trump said he and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu talked about Hamas disarmament, Sky News reports.

Hamas will be given a "very short period of time to disarm," Trump said.

He added that there will be "hell to pay" if they don't disarm, arguing it's a necessary component of peace in the region.

Also, the US president said he hopes Iran isn't trying to build up its missile program again, as reports this week have suggested.

"If they are, we're going to have no choice but very quickly to eradicate that build-up. I hope Iran is not trying to build up, as I've been reading, that they're building up weapons and other things, and if they are, they're not they're not using the sites that we obliterated, but they're using possibly different sites”, he added.

Trump said he knows "what they're doing" and says he doesn't want to "waste a lot of fuel" that would be required to send US bombers to the Middle East, having done so already in June. 

Netanyahu, in turn, thanked Donald Trump for his support for Israel, hailing him for his "extraordinary friendship"

"He's achieved remarkable things in the Middle East because we worked together," the Israeli leader said of the US president.

“We talk about our ideas. Sometimes we have different ideas, but we work it out, and most of the time we see eye to eye. But it's been a remarkable experience and this was a very, very productive meeting,” the Israeli PM added.
