Over the past year, the existing mechanisms of interstate cooperation between Armenia and Russia continued their systematic and consistent work. The “tuning fork” of bilateral relations was the active dialogue between the leaders of the two countries. Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin noted this in his New Year's message to the Armenian people, as he recapped the results of the passing year and outlined the plans for the future.

The Russian diplomat emphasized that the two countries, faced with serious challenges in the conditions of growing geopolitical tension, continued the dialogue on ways to resolve the emerging problems and the further development of Russian-Armenian relations in all domains.

“According to the results of the [passing] year, Russia has maintained the status of Armenia's leading economic and investment partner, guarantor of the republic's energy and food security. Cooperation within the framework of shared integration associations—first and foremost,  the Eurasian Economic Union, whose membership brings tangible economic benefits to Armenia—also played an important role in this,” Kopyrkin noted.

In his words, cultural, humanitarian, and universal contacts continued to remain one of the pillars of relations between the two countries. Kopyrkin recalled that this year, they together celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, emphasizing that the feat of our grandfathers and ancestors continues to be sacred for our peoples. He stressed that today it is our duty to preserve and multiply the shared historical heritage and pass it on to future generations.

“Russia is vitally interested in the establishment of stable and just peace and security in the South Caucasus, the dynamic development and prosperity of the countries of the region. We are ready to make the required contribution to strengthening stability, restoring regional transport communications and trade and economic ties in Transcaucasia,” the Russian diplomat emphasized.

 Also, the Russian ambassador to Armenia expressed confidence that in the coming year there will be all the opportunities for the further development of Russia-Armenia multilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
