ANKARA. – Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu commented at the Turkish Parliament on the investigation launched against Turkey’s Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis in Switzerland.

Turkish FM stated there is a difference between France and Switzerland in criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide, Anadolu agency reports.

“There is a bill, adopted in France in 2001 and currently the state tries to criminalize it, while the situation is different in Switzerland. There is a verdicts cast against Dogu Perincek. When Switzerland adopted the bill and court cast its verdict, the Swiss authorities protested it. We witnessed when the Swiss President came to Turkey, he strictly condemned the law adopted in his state,” Davutoglu said adding Swiss Ambassador to Turkey has called to Turkish MFA to clarify the situation.

To note, the proceedings were launched after Bagis had stated in Zurich that he officially denies Armenian Genocide.
