The Iranian nation is committed to continuing the path, character and ideals of Qassem Soleimani with all its might, President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian stated in his speech at the ceremony marking the sixth anniversary of the assasination of General Qassem Soleimani on January 1 in Tehran.

Pezeshkian said threats of death or assassination as a means of exerting pressure will not weaken Iran’s will.

“Our treacherous and oppressive enemies should not think they can frighten us with martyrdom. Iran will continue the path of the dear martyrs through perseverance and sustain the effort to address the problems facing ordinary citizens”, added Pezeshkian.

General Soleimani, the former Commander of the Quds Force, an elite unite of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was assassinated by the US military on January 3, 2020, near Baghdad International Airport.

During a week a number of commemoration events and ceremonies are scheduled across the country, including Kerman, the birthplace of Soleimani.
