US President Donald Trump has accused Colombian President Gustavo Petro of supporting illegal drug trafficking and did not rule out the possibility of carrying out an operation in Colombia similar to the one in Venezuela.
According to Trump, Colombia is “run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States.”
Petro has cocaine factories, Trump told reporters.
And when asked whether the US would carry out an operation in Colombia as well, Trump replied that it sounds appealing to him.
On January 3, US special forces arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas and transferred him to the US, where he will be charged with participating in drug trafficking. Maduro will appear before US federal court on Monday in New York.
