No one in Armenia can force anything on anyone. Ruling force MP Khachatur Sukiasyan on Tuesday told this to reporters in the courtyard of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in downtown Yerevan—and referring to the fact that the company owned by his family imported Azerbaijani gasoline to Armenia and forced the country’s gas stations to sell that gasoline without fail.

“Armenia has always imported oil products from various countries over the past 30 years. For decades, transportation routes have been closed to Armenia, and Armenia has paid large sums of money for transportation costs.

By rough calculation, if Armenia acquires 80 percent of the fuel it uses from its neighbors, it will save $80-100 million annually. And if Armenia does not acquire from its neighbors, the neighbors sell 10 thousand times more to different countries of the world and always receive that amount. And Armenia can save $80-100 million, and that money will go to the development of other domains,” Sukiasyan added, in particular.
