A fire broke out accompanied by an explosion at an oil depot of SOCAR Petroleum CJSC—a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, SOCAR—in the Kazakh region of western Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on the territory of SOCAR Petroleum's oil depot No. 7, the company said in a statement on its social media.

The explosion occurred during the refueling of a fuel truck.

The fire was completely extinguished.

But an employee of the oil depot, who worked as a filter-filler, died as a result of the accident.

The causes of the fire are being investigated.
