Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi, who is in Yerevan to hold Armenia-Iran political consultations. Matters of developing Armenia-Iran relations were discussed.

Both sides emphasized the political agreement expressed in raising these relations to a strategic level, and touched upon the work being carried out in that regard. FM Mirzoyan noted as follows in his remarks: “We [i.e. Armenia], understandably, attach great importance to relations with our neighbor and friend Iran.

In essence, for us, they are relations of strategic importance. And it is no coincidence that [Iranian] President [Masoud] Pezeshkian and [Armenian] Prime Minister [Nikol] Pashinyan have agreed to officially raise our relations to the level of ‘strategic partnership’ this year.” Ararat Mirzoyan and Majid Takht Ravanchi exchanged views on matters regarding the unblocking of regional infrastructure.

The Armenian foreign minister emphasized Armenia’s clear position that the unblocking of infrastructure will take place within the framework of fundamental principles. Reference was made to the programs being developed in this regard and the opportunities to be provided through them.
