In 2025, a total 6,580 tons of grain—of which 1,000 tons are Kazakh and 5,580 tons are Russian—as well as 1,210 tons of Azerbaijani gasoline, entered Armenia via the railway through the territory of Azerbaijan. Armenian economy minister Gevorg Papoyan wrote about this on Facebook.

He added as follows: “As of January 8, 2026, 8,485 tons of Russian grain entered Armenia and 4,103 tons are on the way, as well as 7,600 tons of Azerbaijani oil products, of which 6,100 tons are gasoline, 1,500 tons are diesel, are on the way via the railway through the territory of Azerbaijan.

As I had noted earlier, a decrease of up to 80 drams per liter of gasoline and diesel is expected [in Armenia as a result], compared to the prices of the previous month.

I am happy to inform that due to these developments, other companies selling oil products [in Armenia] are also working to reduce prices.”
