Tehran has been without internet for more than 70 hours. Moreover, mobile phone services in the Iranian capital are interrupted during the day and completely disconnected at night. SMS messaging services have also been shut down.
US President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that Washington may take steps to restore internet access to Iranians, including through Starlink mobile terminals.
On January 8, the internet was shut down throughout Iran. Also, Telephone connections were restricted in some regions.
This is believed to be part of the Iranian government's crackdown on protesters. The websites of major Iranian national media outlets were temporarily inaccessible.
