Iran is ready to hold talks with the US, but they must be based on mutual respect, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
"As I have said many times before, we [i.e. Iran] are also ready for talks [with the US]—but on a fair, equal terms, and based on mutual respect. Talks that will be real and serious, rather than in the form of dictates and instructions," Araghchi said.
Iranian television broadcast an excerpt from the Iranian FM's speech to foreign ambassadors.
US President Donald Trump earlier said that Iran had called for talks on its nuclear program and that Washington could meet with Iranian representatives in this regard.
