German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, speaking about the unrest in Iran, called on the Iranian authorities to prevent violence against protesters.
"Let me also touch on the events taking place in Iran. For two weeks now, we have been witnessing people from all walks of life taking to the streets... I call on the Iranian government to protect its citizens, not threaten them. We condemn the violence against the Iranian people in the strongest possible terms. The violence must stop," Merz said, during his visit to India, at a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
