The Chinese authorities oppose possible US interference in Iran's internal affairs, stated the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of China, Mao Ning, Xinhua news agency reports.
"We [i.e. China] consistently oppose [the US] interference in the internal politics of other countries," Mao said during a press briefing Tuesday, as she commented on the prospects of the US authorities using military force against Iran.
Beijing supports Tehran's efforts to ensure national stability, the Chinese MFA spokesperson added.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump imposed 25 percent tariffs on all countries cooperating with Iran. This happened after a wave of protests in the Islamic Republic, for which Iran has blamed the US and Israel, accusing them of organizing this unrest. And the US leader did not rule out the possibility of using force against Iran.
