Armenia is discussing the matter of bringing liquefied gas from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan by rail, spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, Lilit Shaboyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Since we [i.e. Armenia] import [liquefied gas] from two main countries—Iran and Russia, certain problems have arisen in Iran due to well-known circumstances, and the problems with Russia are related to Upper Lars [motorway between Russia and Georgia]. But this problem will be resolved very soon, since liquefied gas will begin to be imported to Armenia by rail, Russian liquefied gas will enter Armenia via Azerbaijan very soon. The option of importing liquefied gas from Russia to Armenia via rail is being discussed,” Shaboyan said.

And when asked when it will be possible to implement this, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy of Armenia replied: “They said, ‘soon,’ without noting a specific date.

To note, the price of liquefied gas in Armenia has almost doubled in recent days.
