During his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev touched upon the steps taken “to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” Azerbaijani media report.

Noting that peace already exists in the region, the Azerbaijani president stated that this is also reflected in the establishment of trade relations between the two countries. In this context, Aliyev highlighted the export of oil products from Azerbaijan to Armenia, as well as the supply of grain being imported to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani leader noted that the “Zangezur corridor,” including the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, plays an important role in regional relations.

During the talk, the importance of the “Board of Peace” established under the chairmanship of the US president was touched upon also and its importance in the strengthening of peace in the Middle East, as well as in supporting the resolution of global conflicts was noted.

Azerbaijan's invitation to the "Board of Peace" as a founding state was assessed as an embodiment of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the US and "a highlighting of the role that our country plays in contributing to world peace," Azerbaijani media added.
