Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) president Petra Bayr, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

First, Mirzoyan congratulated Bayr on her election as the new PACE President. The Armenian FM noted that his current visit to Strasbourg, France is symbolic, as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of Armenia's membership in the Council of Europe (CoE), and emphasized the importance of Armenia’s cooperation with the CoE on the path to democratic development.

"Armenia is a democracy, and this is an irreversible process now, as we continue to adhere to the ambitious agenda of democratic reforms, despite various challenges," FM Mirzoyan added.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of interparliamentary cooperation, as evidenced by the active engagement of the members of the Armenian delegation in the PACE platform.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Petra Bayr exchanged views on regional developments, too. In this connection, the Armenian FM presented the implemented and ongoing steps towards strengthening and institutionalizing the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a result of the August 8, 2025 agreements in Washington.

Humanitarian issues were touched upon as well. Also, the Armenian FM expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by PACE on matters of greatest importance to Armenia.
