The third meeting of the 3+3 format on the South Caucasus is in the preparatory phase, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Turkish media. Lavrov noted that his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, actively supports this meeting.
“We are common neighbors in the South Caucasus. Turkey, together with Azerbaijan, were the main initiators of the 3+3 format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and their three large neighbors—Russia, Turkey, and Iran). Two ministerial meetings (1, 2) have already taken place. The third is now being prepared. Our Georgian neighbors have so far refrained from participating, but we constantly emphasize that the door is open for them,” the Russian foreign minister said.
