Armenian Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan has explained why the two Syrian terrorists were handed over to Turkey.

The two convicted Syrian terrorists who had participated in the 2020 Azerbaijani-Turkish war against Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia were recently transferred from Armenia to Syria—but via Turkey.

According to the Armenian justice minister, these two individuals were transferred on the condition that their incarceration shall continue. Galyan noted that this was done in response to an assessment of existing options and in order to improve Armenia’s relations with Syria and protect the rights of the Armenian community in Syria.

And when asked why this transfer was made through Turkey, the Armenian justice minister replied: “What is it? Is it prohibited through Turkey?”

According to Galyan, "We have assessed the transfer routes, considered other options, and in the context of improving relations with Turkey, we have chosen this particular route. There is no restriction on which country the transfer should be made through."
