The Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty (SORT)—on nuclear disarmament—with the US expires today, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced Thursday, REN TV reports.
“The treaty is expiring. We [i.e. Russia] assess this negatively and express regret in this regard. Our initiative to maintain the restriction thresholds for another year for another year, even after the expiration of this document, has also remained unanswered,” the Kremlin spokesperson said.
