Iranian military units have launched large-scale military exercises aimed at monitoring the Strait of Hormuz, paying special attention to quickly responding to potential threats.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) naval exercises have begun in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian television, the exercises are being held against the backdrop of rising tensions in the Middle East and the increased US military presence in the region. The exercises are designed to develop scenarios for countering security threats and test the readiness of the IRGC units to operate in extreme conditions.

The SNN news agency notes that a key element of these maneuvers will be testing the ability to quickly and decisively respond to potential provocations in the strategically important region.

US President Donald Trump had announced earlier that due to the escalation of the situation around Iran, a second aircraft carrier of the US Navy will soon depart for the Middle East. According to him, this additional US military unit is needed in case an agreement with Tehran is not reached.
