US President Donald Trump announced that he will be involved in nuclear talks with Iran on Tuesday "indirectly," where Washington will be represented by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

"I’ll be involved in those talks, indirectly. And they’ll be very important," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One during his trip to Washington.

Also, the American leader expressed hope that Tehran wants to come to an agreement with Washington, given the consequences of its tough stance and the American bombing of the country last year.

Iran wants a deal and does want to face the consequences of not doing it, the US president said.

"Iran is a very tough negotiator,” Trump added, but expressed a hope that it will be more reasonable.

According to reports, the US and Iran will hold the next round of nuclear talks in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday.
