As of the end of 2025, the total assets of the banking system of Armenia amounted to about 12.8 trillion drams, and loan investments—to 7.9 trillion drams. Daniel Azatyan, Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia, told this to a press conference Tuesday.
“The banking system [of Armenia] employs about 17 thousand employees, the capital has amounted to 2.2 trillion drams, and deposits—7.5 trillion drams.
In 2025, the assets of the banking system [of Armenia] grew by about 1.8 trillion drams, or 16.6 percent, loan investments increased by 1.5 trillion drams, or 23 percent.
Total capital has increased by about 400 billion drams or 22.4 percent. Over the past three years, the increase rates of these three indicators have accelerated.
In 2025, total [bank] deposits [in Armenia] increased by about 1 trillion drams or 15.5 percent, and total liabilities increased by 1.4 trillion drams. Here, too, the increase rates have accelerated,” Azatyan said.
Reflecting on the 7.5 trillion drams of loan investments, the chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia noted that the largest share of them is consumer loans, at 23.2 percent.
“Then comes the mortgage portfolio, which amounts to 1.6 trillion drams and constitutes 21.3 percent of the total. The construction sector, the service sector, and trade are in third and fourth place. We have distinguished agriculture and industry also. The remaining sectors are below 5 percent and together constitute 9.9 percent.
In 2024, 46 percent of [bank] loans [in Armenia] were loans given to individuals. In 2025, it decreased to 44 percent, loans given to legal entities increased, which is a positive indicator.
Construction ensured the largest increase in loans—about 30 percent. Now [bank] loans to the construction sector [of Armenia] amount to 900 billion drams; last year they were a little more than 700 billion.
Consumer loans have increased by 29 percent. The service sector grew by 28 percent, industry by 25 percent, and agriculture by 17 percent. Mortgage loan increase amounted to 13.2 percent," added the chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia.
