Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows: According to our information, the authorities are preparing to hold a big parade on May 28, just 10 days before the [parliamentary] elections [on June 7].
The parade to be held on the day of the foundation of the First Republic of Armenia—the Independence Day—is clearly being carried out for PR purposes, although during [PM Nikol] Pashinyan's rule we have recorded a huge retreat from the status of independence.
It is obvious that he [i.e. Pashinyan] is now doing everything to prove the opposite, and this parade is also aimed at this—they [i.e. the authorities] are attempting to inspire the broad masses of society that these authorities value our victories, the heroic battle of Sardarapat, and are ready for the liberation struggle for the sake of the homeland.
They have begun preparing for the parade since December [last year], the ministry of defense has been instructed to recruit good-looking soldiers of military units, as well as female servicepersons. And they have even started to rehearse for the parade.
