Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Tehran's determination to complete the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Armenia, and stressed the importance of expanding economic and transit cooperation between the two neighboring countries, the Iranian presidential press service reports.

Pezeshkian stated during a meeting with visiting Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan on Tuesday that strengthening relations with neighboring countries, particularly Armenia, is one of the main priorities of Iran's foreign policy.

The Iranian president emphasized also that deepening cooperation in the political, economic, transport, energy, and infrastructure sectors will serve the interests of both countries. He noted the positive progress of economic, construction and corridor projects, and thanked Yerevan for its assistance to Iranian companies operating in Armenia.

In addition, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s principled position on regional developments, emphasized Tehran’s commitment to peace, stability and long-term security, and welcomed the peace agreement signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Papikyan, for his part, described Armenian-Iranian relations as strong, stable, and expanding. He lauded the recent cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector and noted that the growth of economic and transport ties further strengthens bilateral relations, which are of strategic importance to Armenia.
