An Australian Armenian pensioner was abducted and brutally murdered in Australia, the latter’s ABC television reports.

Two men have been charged over the alleged kidnapping and murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

The 85-year-old was abducted from his home in North Ryde at 5am on February 13 in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity.

CCTV footage from a nearby home showed three men bundling the widower into an SUV at about 5am.

Police have said a video of Baghsarian allegedly being assaulted by his captors was sent with a ransom demand, which led them to a property in Dural.

That home was searched on February 20, before police zeroed in on bushland in nearby Glenorie on February 23.

The charges come less than 48 hours after police discovered human remains belonging to Baghsarian near a golf club in Pitt Town, in the northwest fringes of Sydney, on the 11th day of the search.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6:30am on Wednesday, strikeforce detectives, with assistance from Raptor Squad, executed three search warrants in Kenthurst, Castle Hill and Lake Macquarie.

During the searches, police seized vehicles, electronics, and clothing.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man at Kenthurst and a 24-year-old man at Castle Hill.

The men were taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with murder and take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm.

They were refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Thursday.

Detectives have not revealed how Baghsarian died.
