Azerbaijan has voiced another claim to Syunik Province of Armenia.

"Refugees from Western Azerbaijan will return to their historical lands; this is their inalienable right," said president Aziz Alekberli of the “Western Azerbaijan” community—which was created hurriedly, according to Report.az.

The Azerbaijani figure presented his respective intentions in the form of a "historical right."

"Villages destroyed by Armenians are being restored in Karabakh, and our displaced people are returning to their native lands after 30 years of separation. Our homes and lands are in Western Azerbaijan, and the [Azerbaijani] refugees will also return to their native lands; we are confident in this," Alekberli said.

According to the constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the country is the legal successor to the short-lived Azerbaijan Democratic Republic at the beginning of the last century, which at that time was able to “lay claim” to the entire territory of Armenia. This policy continues to this day.
