United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on February 28 condemned the large-scale US and Israeli attack on Iran.

"Since this morning, I have been condemning the large-scale strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran," he said at a UN Security Council meeting.

Guterres emphasized that international law and the norms of international humanitarian law must be respected under all circumstances. He also expressed regret that the opportunity for a diplomatic resolution of differences between the US and Iran had been missed.
