Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran's last shah, living in exile, welcomed the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which has not been officially confirmed.

"Ali Khamenei, the bloodthirsty Zahhak [an evil king in Iranian mythology] of our time, the killer of tens of thousands of Iran's bravest sons and daughters, has been erased from the pages of history," Pahlavi wrote on social media.

"With his death, the Islamic Republic has effectively ceased to exist and will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history," he added.

Pahlavi urged Iranian officials to refrain from appointing a successor, emphasizing that this is the "last chance" for the military, security forces, and police to unite with the people.

"This marks the beginning of our great national celebration; but it is not the end of the road," he wrote.

Pahlavi has been living in exile since the 1979 revolution and resides in the United States.
