US President Donald Trump told CBS that reaching a deal with Iran has become "easier than a day ago" following the attacks by the United States and Israel, which among other things led to the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"It's much easier now than it was a day ago, obviously," Trump said in response to a question about the possibility of a diplomatic solution following the attacks.

The US and Israel launched a series of strikes on Saturday against targets on Iranian territory, including Tehran, with reports of destruction and civilian casualties. Iranian state television confirmed the death of the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran carried out retaliatory missile strikes against Israeli territory as well as US military installations in the Middle East region.
