Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that "justice has prevailed" after Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed yesterday in Tehran in an airstrike by the Israel Defense Forces, reports Times of Israel.
"The tyrant Khamenei was eliminated in the first strike of Operation 'Lion's Roar' along with other senior figures in the stronghold of the Iranian terrorist regime," Katz's statement reads. "Whoever worked toward the destruction of Israel has been destroyed. Justice has prevailed, and a crushing blow has been dealt to the axis of evil."
On the night of March 1, US President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social page the death of "one of the most evil people in history" — Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Meanwhile, Tasnim agency had claimed that the Supreme Leader was continuing to direct combat operations from a command post.
Iran confirmed the death of the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. A 40-day period of mourning has been declared in the country in connection with Khamenei's death.
Earlier, Fars agency reported that Khamenei's daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and one of his daughters-in-law were also killed in the US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
