Rallies and protests are taking place in various cities across Iran following the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mehr News Agency reports.
Early on Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, crowds of mourners flooded the streets of Tehran, gathering near University of Tehran after confirmation of Khamenei’s death.
In the city of Yazd, demonstrators were chanting “Death to America.”
Protests were also reported in Ardabil, Ahvaz, and Bandar-e Genaveh.
