No U.S. military ship will be allowed to enter the Persian Gulf, Mohsen Rezaei, a former senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a high-ranking Iranian official, said on Sunday.

Rezaei’s statement was published on Telegram via Fars News Agency.

Ahead of the attack on Iran, the U.S. Navy had concentrated what President Donald Trump described as an “armada” of ships in the region. In the days leading up to the strikes, at least several vessels were in the Gulf, while others were in the Arabian Sea. The precise location of U.S. ships in the region on Sunday remained unclear.

Video released by United States Central Command since the start of the strikes showed U.S. warships launching Tomahawk cruise missiles and fighter jets taking off from an aircraft carrier as part of the operations against Iran.
