Thousands of Shia Muslims joined street demonstrations in Indian-administered Kashmir to protest the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Agence France-Presse reports.

Protesters carrying red, black and yellow flags gathered in the main square in central Srinagar.

Many chanted anti-Israel and anti-American slogans during the emotionally charged but largely peaceful gathering. Similar protests were held elsewhere across Kashmir and in other parts of India with significant Shia Muslim populations.
