Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has joined Iran’s leadership council temporarily governing the country until a new Supreme Leader is elected, the official spokesperson of the Expediency Council, Mohsen Dehnavi, said, according to TASS.
“In accordance with Article 111 of the Constitution, which states that one member of the Guardian Council from among the jurists must be present in the temporary leadership council, the Expediency Council has elected Ayatollah Alireza Arafi as a member of this council so that governance of the country can continue without interruption and the Assembly of Experts can elect a Supreme Leader as soon as possible,” he wrote on X.
