The spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry addressed the issue of Armenians currently in the Middle East and the need for their possible evacuation.

“Armenian diplomatic missions and consular offices in Middle Eastern countries, particularly in the United Arab Emirates (concurrently accredited to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia), Kuwait (concurrently accredited to Jordan), Qatar, Oman, and Iraq, are operating in a 24-hour emergency mode.

Contact is being maintained with relevant airlines (including FlyDubai, Air Arabia, and Qatar Airways) to obtain up-to-date information about the situation, clarify whether Armenian citizens are on flights, and, if necessary, undertake additional measures.

In some cases, airlines are offering flight rescheduling options, while the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has announced its readiness to cover the costs of the extended stay of all tourists currently in Abu Dhabi. An additional statement on this matter has been issued by the Armenian Embassy in the UAE.

We add that the Armenian Embassy in the UAE is also in constant contact with a group of 92 Armenian students studying in the UAE, providing them with necessary guidance and advice.

The Armenian embassies and consular sections in Iran and Israel continue their operations as well. No large number of requests has been recorded from Armenian citizens.

In the case of Iran, there are occasionally communication issues. The Armenian Embassy is also in contact with relevant partners from other countries to assist, if necessary, with evacuations through Armenian territory.

Through the hotlines provided by the embassies and the Foreign Ministry, direct responses are being given to questions raised by Armenian citizens. The total number of Armenian citizens in those countries is being clarified and regularly updated.

On February 28 and March 1 (as of 13:30), the Foreign Ministry hotline received around four dozen calls. Refuting information circulating on some social media platforms, no calls have gone unanswered. The questions mainly concerned the resumption of flights, evacuation to Armenia, or other return options.

At this stage, there is no information indicating that Armenian citizens are among the victims.

We urge Armenian citizens to follow official instructions and information disseminated by local authorities and Armenian diplomatic missions and consular offices.

Participants in the Security Council meeting chaired today by the Prime Minister of Armenia expressed deep regret over the tragic developments, conveyed condolences to the victims, and stressed the need for the swift establishment of peace.
