President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the killing of the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

“The news of the tragic death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, has deeply saddened us.

On the occasion of this grave loss, we express our deep condolences to you, the family of the deceased, and the friendly people of Iran, and wish you patience and fortitude.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei played an important role in the life of the Iranian state and society for many years and held a special place in the political and religious life of his country. His passing is a great loss for Iran.

On this difficult day, we wish the friendly and brotherly people of Iran peace, stability and prosperity,” the message states.
