Two fighter jets – an F5 and an F4 – were shot down by the Israeli Air Force at Tabriz Airport in western Iran as they were preparing for takeoff, Al Jazeera reports, citing a statement by the Israeli military (IDF).

In the statement, accompanied by video footage of the attack, the IDF said that “the strike was carried out in order to weaken the activity of the Iranian Air Force and further degrade the regime’s air defense capabilities.”
