Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday postponed his official visit to Russia, citing the recent “regional and internal situation,” Dawn News reports.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the decision in a statement.

The statement noted that the prime minister’s visit to Russia is of “great importance” for the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, but given the current circumstances, it has been postponed.

A new date will be set following mutual consultations.
