The attack against Iran took place at a time when Tehran was demonstrating maximum will to achieve results in the negotiations, Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami told a press conference Monday.
"The attack by the US and the Zionist regime [i.e. Israel] took place at a time when Iran had submitted its prompt, precise, and highly feasible proposals to the US, and this was carried out in conditions when Iran was demonstrating maximum goodwill to achieve success in these negotiations. It is very surprising for us [i.e. Iran] how a system, a regime that cannot adhere to the principles of negotiations, has decided to enter the negotiation phase at all," said the Iranian envoy to Armenia.
Referring to Iran's retaliatory actions, the ambassador emphasized that they are not directed against neighboring countries, but against American military bases located there.
“As long as this aggression continues, we [i.e. Iran] will continue our self-defense,” said the Iranian ambassador to Armenia.
According to him, US President Donald Trump’s advisers had warned him that this would not be an easy and inexpensive war. In his opinion, now Trump himself is convinced of this.
