Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday that the urgent priority regarding the current situation in the Middle East is an immediate cessation of hostilities and preventing further spread of the conflict, Xinhua reports.
Wang Yi made the statement during a phone call with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.
He said that further spread of the war does not serve the interests of Gulf countries.
China values its traditional friendship with Iran and supports the country in defending its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity, Wang Yi said during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to him, China believes that in the current serious and complex situation, Iran is capable of maintaining social stability and taking into account the reasonable concerns of its neighboring countries.
