The US Embassy in Lebanon has again called on its citizens to immediately leave the country amid the expanding military conflict in the Middle East.

"We strongly urge US citizens not to travel to Lebanon. If you are already in the country — leave Lebanon IMMEDIATELY," the embassy said on Monday, as Israeli strikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut and dozens of villages, primarily in southern Lebanon.

"The US Embassy strongly recommends that US citizens in southern Lebanon, near the borders with Syria, in refugee camps, and in the Dahiya area of Beirut, immediately leave these areas," the embassy added.
