Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the US and Israeli attacks on Iran are a "clear violation" of international law, adding that Turkey shares the pain of the Iranian people.

"On behalf of my country and our people, I extend my condolences to the people of Iran and pray for God's mercy for our Iranian brothers who perished in these attacks, especially for the late Khamenei," Erdogan said.

Speaking at a Ramadan iftar dinner in Ankara, Erdogan noted that Turkey would intensify contacts at all levels until a ceasefire is reached and calm is restored in the region. He added that the continuation of the conflict poses serious risks for the region and the world that no one will be able to handle.

"If the necessary measures are not taken, the conflict process may have grave consequences for regional and global security. No one will be able to withstand the economic and geopolitical uncertainty that such a process would create. Therefore, this fire must be extinguished before it burns even stronger," he said.
