At least 555 people have been killed in Iran as a result of the large-scale US and Israeli strikes that began on February 28, Press TV reported, citing the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

The organization added that the attacks covered more than 130 settlements across Iran, and more than 100 thousand people were engaged in providing emergency assistance on the spot.

The most tragic incident occurred in the southern province of Hormozgan, where a school was hit. According to the Red Crescent, 165 schoolchildren were killed and about 100 more were injured to varying degrees. It is noted that it is currently impossible to confirm this information. Analysis of satellite imagery and open-source materials shows that the school was located near a building that could be a base for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran's retaliatory strikes have killed 12 people in Israel, the latter's health ministry said. Nine of them were killed when an Iranian ballistic missile hit a shelter near a synagogue in the city of Beit Shemesh. According to the ministry, 777 injured people had been taken to Israeli hospitals or sought medical attention as of Monday.

According to the US military, four American servicemembers were killed and four others were injured.

Iran's strikes have affected some other countries in the region, too. In the United Arab Emirates, according to the country's defense ministry, three people were killed and 58 were injured. In Kuwait, its health ministry said one person was killed and more than 30 were injured in the attack. In Syria, four people in the city of Suwayda were killed in debris from an Iranian missile fired towards Israel, the Syrian state news agency SANA reports.
