The war against Iran launched by the US and Israel in recent days has engulfed virtually the entire Middle East, bringing death, destruction, panic, uncertainty and social unrest to the region, according to a statement from the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia.

"Naturally, Armenian communities in Middle Eastern countries have also been affected to varying degrees by the consequences of the war.

Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I is following the dangerous situation with deep concern and is in constant contact with Armenian communities in the countries of the region. Due to communication disruptions, it is impossible to establish contact with our dioceses in Iran.

Aram I expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded. He simultaneously calls for a cessation of hostilities in all areas and for a just resolution of issues through political negotiations.

His Holiness calls on those responsible in the dioceses to protect our communities from threats as much as possible and to be of service in meeting community needs. He himself is prepared to do everything to support the work of the dioceses and their needs."
