Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev stated that work at Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant has been completely halted amid the fighting in the Middle East, Interfax reports.

"Of course, work at the facility in Iran has been stopped. We are very strictly ensuring that our workers do not leave the settlements and are minimally present in open areas related to construction," Likhachev told journalists on Tuesday.

"Due to the ongoing hostilities against Iran, it is difficult to predict the further course of events," he noted.

According to the head of the state corporation, Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant is a priority facility for Rosatom.

"Our people will remain there in any case. This facility will be among our priorities. We understand our responsibility to the people and government of Iran," Likhachev emphasized.

According to media reports, the Iranian city of Bushehr, where the Bushehr nuclear plant being built by Rosatom is located, was also struck in the US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Likhachev previously reported that the state corporation had evacuated children of Bushehr plant employees from Iran in advance, along with all excess personnel — 94 people in total.
