The referendum on a new constitution will be held in Syria on February 26, state television of Syria reports.
President of Syria Bashar al-Assad received on February 12 the members of the commission preparing new constitution in Damascus. The commission handed him a draft of the document.
The adoption of a new constitution is one of the key requirements of the opposition after beginning of anti-government protests in Syria in the middle of March 2011, RIA Novosti reports.
