French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France has in recent hours deployed Rafale fighters, air defense systems and airborne radars to intercept missiles and drones, CNN reports.
He also confirmed that Paris is sending its aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle — the flagship of the French Navy — to the Mediterranean. Macron emphasized that France has defense agreements with Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan and Iraq and will "show solidarity."
Macron also addressed the situation in Lebanon, where hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel have resumed. He called Hezbollah's attack on Israel "a big mistake," but also warned Israel against a ground invasion of its northern neighbor.
