Two groups of Afghan citizens attempted to illegally enter Armenia from Iran, the Investigative Committee of Armenia informed in response to a request from Sputnik Armenia.

The incident occurred on February 20. These Afghan nationals attempted to enter Armenia by swimming across the Araks River.

In this regard, on February 21, the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated two criminal proceedings under the article “Illegal crossing of the state border”—with prior consent by a group of persons.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia did not provide additional details in its response to a request from Sputnik Armenia, and noted that they contain information not subject to publication.

This incident occurred before the attack on Iran by the US and Israel.
