New incursions have taken place in Armenia, and the Armenian authorities have hidden it from our society. Arman Tatoyan, Head of the “Wings of Unity” Political Initiative and former Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, told this to a press conference Wednesday.

“I will now present them with facts and what security challenges and problems we [i.e. Armenia] have. These are objective facts, confirmed by satellite photos,” said Tatoyan, and showed those sections on a map.

According to him, the first of them is what happened in Vardenis town of Armenia.

“This is the deployment of a new position within the territory of Armenia and an incursion into the sovereign territory of Armenia. Until July 31, 2025, this position did not exist according to satellite photos. It happened until August 19. This is an Azerbaijani position on combat duty, where there are firing positions for large-caliber weapons. We are talking about grenade launchers, mortars, other large-caliber weapons, and also firing points are envisioned, with separate communications.

From this position, the Sotk [gold] mine is 4 kilometers away; we see that the Sotk mine is under direct target. The village of Kut in Vardenis is also under target from this position. Two kilometers from this position are Armenian pastures, arable lands, meadows. In addition, it is 200 meters from this position to our road.

This position aims not only to suppress and keep [Armenia’s] civilian settlements under target, but also has a suppressive, threatening significance for our military; they keep our military under direct target.

They [i.e. the Azerbaijani military positions] have strengthened themselves so much that they have solar panels, reinforcement works, etc. there," said Tatoyan.
